Welcome to the Thomas Jefferson website! We are a community that honors and embraces its diversity. We have a very experienced staff that has strong learning expectations for their students to reach their highest potential. We encourage you to visit our website or in person to see the TJ community! You will see that our nurturing and supportive environment is reinforced with an engaging curriculum that is based on the Illinois State Standards. Our positive character education program and partnership with our families and the community only reinforce that we feel by working with our families and the community we can be successful at TJ. 3 Years In A Row!

Thomas Jefferson has once again received the Spotlight Schools Award for Academic Achievement for 2007. This makes 3 years in a row that Thomas Jefferson has received this prestigious award. This is given to schools for exemplary performance in closing the achievement gap, meeting high standards, and opening a world of opportunities. Again, it is thanks to the fantastic staff, the hardworking students, and support we receive from our parents and community that we have been given this award.

Thomas Jefferson has been named a Spotlight School again!

Thomas Jefferson already received the 2005 Spotlight Schools Award for Academic Achievement. We are proud to say that we have now received the 2006 Spotlight Schools Award for Academic Achievement. This award is given to schools for exemplary performance in closing the achievement gap, meeting high standards, and opening a world of opportunities. Schools must have had at least 60% of students meeting or exceeding standards in both reading and mathematics in 2006, have had at least 50% of students meeting or exceeding standards in both reading and mathematics in 2004 and 2005, and have made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in 2005 and 2006 (please refer to the school's report card for more information on AYP). It is thanks to the fantastic staff, the hardworking students, and support we receive from our parents and community that we have been given this prestigious award.
